Bogalusa held a track/field camp from June 26-28 at the Gary C. Magee Track and Field Complex.
The clinic had 15 participants ages 6-14.
“It was an exciting camp,” Bogalusa Track/Field coach Eddie Walker said. “We were diversified in all of the things we wanted the kids to learn — starting blocks, correct jumping techniques, throwing techniques, relays, hurdles, endurance, speed, discipline, attitude, leadership and working hard. All of that comes around to having a mental discipline.”
Besides Walker, those who helped with the clinic were former Bogalusa High School Track/Field Coach Gary C. Magee, former Bogalusa, now Southern University track/field athlete Clyedterrious Thompson, Franklinton graduate Josh Robinson, Bogalusa High School secretary Monisha Hawthorne and Bogalusa High School English and Speech teacher Olivia Kemp.
Walker said they will continue to have the camp.
