Juvenile Arrested for Late-Night Shooting

The Bogalusa Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a late-night shooting near Travis’s Supermarket on Monday, July 3, 2023. During the incident, Jakarvis Curney, a 20-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to his lower leg.
Authorities swiftly identified and apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile suspect in the shooting. The suspect, whose identity cannot be disclosed due to legal restrictions, has been charged with multiple offenses, including illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, illegal use of weapons/dangerous instruments, attempted second-degree murder, and obstruction of justice.
Following the arrest, the juvenile was transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Facility pending further legal proceedings. The Bogalusa Police Department is actively investigating the case to gather additional information and evidence.
