Louisiana middle school teacher reportedly gave birth to underage student’s baby

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. – Officers with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSHO) have announced that a 33-year-old middle school teacher was arrested. Morgan Freche is accused of rape involving a 17-year-old student.
On Sept. 28 the TPSHO released a statement acknowledging an investigation into the incident. They stated that on Sept. 24, the Sheriff’s office received reports that a Tangipahoa Parish School System teacher, now known to be Morgan Freche, had given birth to a child that was conceived with a 17-year-old student. Following the start of an investigation into the matter, Freche resigned.
“While we cannot share specific details regarding the investigation, we can confirm that the allegations were dealt with promptly, and the investigation process has been rigorous and thorough,” Sheriff Daniel Edwards said in a statement. “This type of investigation is time-consuming and is being handled with great care. Under no circumstances will we be rushed for closure.”
Freche has several warrants for her arrest mentioning that the sexual misconduct dates back about two years. Freche turned herself in on Tuesday, Oct. 3. She faces one count of third-degree rape, four counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and one count of oral sexual battery.
Tangipahoa Parish School System Superintendent Melissa Stilley has said that the school system and Freche’s school is cooperating with law enforcement. “We have just learned of the arrest of former Tangipahoa Parish teacher Morgan Freche. Although personnel and student matters are confidential and the specifics of such matters may not be discussed, student safety and the proper conduct of school district employees are a priority.”
