Acting on a citizen’s tip of unusual activity occurring on Columbia Street in Bogalusa, Washington Parish Sheriff’s deputies and Bogalusa Police Department officers discovered drug dealers operating out of a room at the Choctaw Motel in Bogalusa on Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the room, they found numerous illegal drugs scattered about along with weapons and three suspected drug dealers. Additional illegal drugs were discovered in their vehicle in the parking lot. All three individuals were arrested and transported initially to the Bogalusa City Jail and then to the Washington Parish Jail.

Arrested and charged with multiple offenses was Jamarius Charles Johnson, 19, a resident of Elm Drive in Bogalusa. Johnson was booked into the Washington Parish Jail and charged with:

• Possession of controlled dangerous substance with weapon present;

• Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics;

• Two counts possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics;

• Possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Sale, distribution or possession of legend drugs without a prescription; and

• Two counts failure to appear.

Also arrested was Bryant Keith Myers, 18, a resident of Ontario Avenue in Bogalusa. Myers was booked into the Washington Parish Jail and charged with:

• Possession of controlled dangerous substance with weapon present;

• Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics;

• Two counts possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics; and

• Possession of drug paraphernalia.

William Robinson, 41, was the third person arrested. A resident of Bund Street in Bogalusa, Robinson was booked into the Washington Parish Jail and charged with:

• Possession of controlled dangerous substance with weapon present;

• Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics;

• Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics; and

• Possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition to these charges, Robinson also has outstanding warrants involving the distribution of illegal drugs.

“When we received this information, we acted quickly,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Suspecting that both illegal drugs and firearms might be present, we enlisted the help of the Bogalusa Police Department to provide additional personnel.”

Seal said he was happy no weapons were used against any officers.

“It is always satisfying to law enforcement officers when we are able to get potentially violent drug dealers off of our streets. We are grateful the drug dealers’ guns were not used against these fine officers and that the arrests were made in a safe manner,” Seal said. “Our officers and Bogalusa officers went home safely. The drug dealers went to jail. That is the way it is supposed to work. Thank you, Bogalusa Police Department, for your assistance.”

Seal warned other drug dealers.

“By the way, we know there are other drug dealers out there,” Seal added. “We have them on our radar, and there is always a place for them in the Washington Parish Jail. Sooner or later we will have the privilege of introducing them to a four-inch mattress and a steel bunk.”
