FRANKLINTON, LA – It was a day filled with excitement and learning at the Franklinton Branch Library, as children and their families gathered for a unique storytime event honoring our first responders. The highlight of the day was the presence of a special guest, Lieutenant Jared Stubbs, who brought both stories and real-life heroism to life for the young attendees.

In a blend of education and entertainment, Lt. Stubbs engaged the children with a vivid storytelling session. His rendition of “Paw Patrol: Mission Paws” was not just a hit; it was an interactive experience that captivated young minds. The event was part of the library’s First Responder Appreciation Month, a tribute to those who keep our community safe.

The session went beyond storytelling. Lt. Stubbs took the time to explain his job, offering insights into the life and duties of a police officer. This interaction was an invaluable opportunity for the children to understand and appreciate the roles and responsibilities of our first responders.

The event also featured fun activities, including a game of “Red Light, Green Light,” which was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. These activities, coupled with snacks and drinks generously donated by the Friends of the Library, made for a memorable day.

The event’s climax was perhaps the most thrilling part for the little ones: Lt. Stubbs showcased his police vehicle. This show-and-tell segment provided the children with a close-up view of the tools and technology used by our police force, making the experience both educational and exciting.

Amber Shepler from the Franklinton Branch Library expressed immense gratitude towards Lt. Stubbs for volunteering his time and to all the first responders who put their lives on the line for the safety of our community. The event was a celebration and a learning experience that highlighted the importance of first responders in our daily lives.

The First Responder Appreciation Month at the Franklinton Library continues to be a testament to the library’s commitment to community engagement and education. Events like these foster a sense of community and gratitude among the younger generation, ensuring that the bravery and dedication of first responders are recognized and celebrated.

The Franklinton Branch Library, through such initiatives, remains a cornerstone in the community, promoting education, appreciation, and community spirit.
