WASHINGTON PARISH, La. – In response to the predicted severe cold weather, with temperatures expected to drop to 15 degrees by Tuesday, Jan 16, local organizations are mobilizing a temporary Warming Center at Poplas Quarters Community Center (PQCC) for Monday through Wednesday.

This initiative, spearheaded by Debbie Mccloud, aims to provide shelter and warmth for the homeless and those without adequate heating. Larry Brown, the contact person, can be reached at 985-750-5368 for information, shelter access, or transportation arrangements.

The center welcomes anyone needing warmth, with particular attention to the homeless and residents lacking home heating. Community support is crucial; volunteers are needed for supervision, and donations of food, water, blankets, and other essentials are highly appreciated. Churches, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate in this communal effort.

So far, RCML Food Pantry, Inc. has made donations, alongside Susan Francisco Stewart with a pot of potato soup, Mr. Larry Brown is providing space and transport, and Second Harvest & Marc Vise has given food and water supplies.
