Billy J. Blackwell III “Billy Joe”, a resident of Bogalusa, La. passed away on March 24, 2024, at Resthaven Living Center at the age of 85.
Billy Joe served in the National Guard for 8 years and retired from the Bogalusa Paper Mill with 42 years of service. He could always be found on the Pearl River
catching catfish and white perch, exploring the outdoors, enjoying LSU ball games, and pulling practical jokes to bring smiles. He is deeply loved by all and will forever be in our hearts.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife Linda Joyce Williams Blackwell; his parents, Willie J. Blackwell and Hattie Mae Fortenberry Blackwell; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda Moore and I.L. Moore.
Mr. Blackwell is survived by his daughter Kristi Blackwell (Josh Koerner) of Arizona and four nieces.
Visitation will be held Tuesday night from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and will continue Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time of 11 a.m. The Rev. Dennis Allen will officiate, and interment will take place at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Corey Wheat, Mike Davis, Larry Clement, Mike Wheat, Nick Glenn, Myles Mason.
