Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Jan. 11, 1928 – June 2, 2024

Rose Louise Menish Conerly won the victory and went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2024.  She was a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, La.

Rose graduated from the Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial School of Nursing and finished her training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.  She eagerly began her nursing career at the Bogalusa Community Medical. She devoted the next 40 years to taking care of the patients she loved. Rose was blessed with a heart for nursing which she demonstrated by her genuine love for people and her hard-working spirit.

After her retirement from the Medical Center, she still wasn’t ready to hang up her nursing cap. She continued nursing for the next 15 years with her close friend, Dr. Gilbert Caillouet. Upon the closing of Dr. Caillouet’s medical practice, she begrudgingly retired at the “young” age of 84.

Rose was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of Annunciation Catholic Church. She loved her church. She also loved to shop and never passed up an opportunity to go to a mall, any mall! In addition to shopping, she religiously attended Pokeno. Rose adored her Pokeno “sisters” and treasured their long-standing friendships.

Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lionel “Chip” Conerly; her parents, Otry and Bob Lavinghouse and Tony Menish; her sister, Louise Talley; brother-in-law, Donald Ray Talley; brother, Robert “Tinker” Lavinghouse; her precious niece, Donna Talley; and her lifelong side-kick and best friend, Betty McClendon.

She is survived by her daughters Lynda Cookston (Doug), Debbie Jenkins, and Kristen Nicoladis (Michael); sister, Dody Boone; brother-in-law, Hayward Boone; and sister, Joy Lloyd; grandchildren, Anna Beth Chao, Lane Dedman, Grant Cookston, Clay Jenkins, Leah Jenkins, Conner Nicoladis, and Corbin Nicoladis; great-grandchildren, Claire Jenkins, Weston Bush, Madeliene Chao, Piper Ward, and Riley Dedman.

Visitation will be held one hour before a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church on Friday, June 7, 2024. Louisiana Nurse’s Honor Guard will perform the Nurse’s Honor Ceremony prior to Funeral Mass.

Pallbearers: Danny Boone, Robert Boone, Doug Cookston, Randy Crain, Kyle Knight, and Michael Nicoladis.

A special thank you to the administrators of The Gardens at Georgia Tucker, Susan Causey and Greg Futch, as well as to all of the staff and residents. The care and love provided there was a true blessing to Rose and her entire family.
