BHS’ De’Zyriah Rankins finishes 2nd in 2 events

Bogalusa’s De’Zyriah Rankins was second in a pair of events at the Harris County Invitational at West Harrison High School in Mississippi Thursday.
Rankins was second in the 200 and the long jump.
She ran the 200 in 27.40 seconds, and had a long jump distance of 16-0.
The Lady Jacks had several top six finishes.
De’Erica Myers had a pair of third place finishes. The places came in the 100 and the 400. She ran the 100 in 13.70 and the 400 in 1:10.
Jameka Lucas was third and fourth in the meet. She was third in the 300 hurdles at 56.40, and fourth in the high jump with a height of 4-4.
O’Layzha took third in the high jump at 4-6.
Lulu Ball was third in the discus with a throw of 65-8, and she got sixth in the shot put with distance of 24-1.
Alexis Turner finished fifth and sixth. Her fifth was in the discus at 61-0 while the sixth place tally was in the shot put with a distance of 29-0.
Two more individuals, Teagan Odom and Arielle Smith, were sixth.
Odom was sixth in the 300 hurdles, which she ran in 1:03.
Smith tallied a sixth in the 400 with a time of 1:12.
All three of the Lady Jacks’ relay teams were third.
The 4×100 group ran in 55.80. The group featured Myers, De’Zyriah Rankins, Miyana Roberts and Odom.
The 4×200 group finished in 1:58. The team had Myers, De’Zyriah Rankins, Jameka Lucas and Odom.
The 4×400 team ran in 5:48. The squad had Kim McGowan, Arielle Smith, Turner and Morris. Bogalusa’s next meet is scheduled for Thursday at Salmen.
