Bogalusa’s Robertson strong at district meet

Bogalusa’s Malon Robertson is heading to regionals in three individual events and in a relay, as he was solid during the District 8-3A meet Wednesday at Jewel Sumner.

Robertson was runner up in the pole vault (10-0). He finished third in the triple jump (38-11) and fourth for the long jump (19-9).

He was also a member of Bogalusa’s fourth place 4×200 relay team (1:38). The rest of the squad included Matthew Fox, Dianté Lenoir and Javon Tate.

Amite’s Myron Dokes won the long jump at 21-0 while teammate Devontae Smith was victorious in the triple jump in 43-11.

Loranger’s Colt Hart won the pole vault at 11-6.

Jewel Sumner was the 4×200 victory, as the Cowboys ran the event in 1:28.

The track meet was the chance for the athletes to qualify for the Region 3-3A meet. The qualifiers are back in action Wednesday at West Jefferson.

Bogalusa’s Dianté Lenoir made the regionals in both hurdle events.

He was second in the 300 hurdles (43.92) and third in the 110 hurdles (17.98).

Fox also advanced in the 300 hurdles after a fourth-place tally (48.26).

Jewel Sumner’s Demontrei won both of the hurdles. He ran the 100 in 16.51 and the 300 in 43.78.

Devonte Lenoir is going to regionals after a second place finish in the discus (109-3).

He finished behind field Most Valuable Player, Independence’s Tyler Covington, who threw it 114-1.

Also for Bogalusa Dianté Lenoir was seventh in the long jump (18-0.5).

Marties Elzie (36-11) and Devonte Lenoir (36-1) were fifth and seventh, respectively, for the shot put. Jewel Sumner’s Jamarkus Norman won that event at 39-9.5.

Jonathan Simmons finished sixth in the discus (85-11) and the javelin (107-10). Jalen Lucas was eighth in the javelin (79-2).

Jewel Sumner’s Donovan Hartman won the javelin with a throw of 146-8.

Terry Owens (6:01) and Lucas (6:07) ran seventh and eighth in the 1,600. Jewel Sumner’s Austin Ballow, who was the track MVP, won the event in 4:40.

Fox was fifth in the 110 hurdles (19.85).

Tate took sixth for the 100 (12.02), as Sumner’s Joseph Dickerson ran an 11.08 for the victory.

Owens posted an 11th-place finish for the 800 meters (2:36).

Ballow topped the event in 2:03.

Bogalusa’s 4×100 team of Tate, Keltron Harry, Owens and Fox, was fifth (48.96). Jewel Sumner captured the event in 42.91.

Lucas was ninth in the 400 (59.62), as Amite’s Smith won it in 51.44.

Tate was fifth in the 200 (24.65). Jewel Sumner’s Stevie Pittman was victorious in 22.36.

Owens got sixth in the 3,200 (14:49), as Ballow won that event with a time of 10:28.

Jewel Sumner captured the team competition in lopsided fashion with 221 points.

Six teams competed in the meet.

Loranger (90) was second.

Loranger was followed by Amite (75), Albany (62), Bogalusa (61) and Independence (44) for the team scores in the District 8-3A meet.
