Bogalusa Schools to host Health Fair Thursday, May 22
Bogalusa City Schools will be having a health fair on May 22, 2025 on the front lawn at the school board office from 2PM until 5PM. Hope to see you there.
Pupil Progression Plan Meeting scheduled for May 27th
The Bogalusa City School District’s parents and community members are invited to attend the Pupil Progression Plan meeting for information regarding the district’s policies on retention and promotion.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 27th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the School Board Office Board Room.
Bogalusa Kickball registration to be open May 15-23
Bogalusa Parks and Recreation Dept. announced registration for Kickball teams opens on May 15th and will be available until May 23rd at City Hall, from 8 AM to 4 PM. Co-Ed teams ages 5-13 will be available. Registration fee is $40.
Please note that there will be no registration during the lunch break from 12 PM to 1 PM.
Practices will kick off on June 2nd, with our exciting opening day scheduled for June 14th. Get ready for an action-packed season, all games will be held on weekdays! (Except opening day ) . For more info call 985-732-6215.
Balloon Festival to take off May 30-June 1 in Franklinton
The annual Washington Parish Balloon Festival is scheduled for May 30th through June 1st on the Franklinton Fairgrounds. The festival will feature some beautiful hot air balloons, tethered rides, live music, vendors and more!

Vacation Bible School set for June 2-5 at Briarwood Baptist
FRANKLINTON — “Magnified” is the topic for Vacation Bible School at Briarwood Baptist Church on June 2-5, Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with Family Night following on Friday, June 6.
“Discovering the bigness of God in the smallest of things” will be the theme included in the Bible studies and other events during the week.

Will & Estate Planning Session to be held at Library June 3rd
The Pro Bono Project’s Northshore office will host a information session at the Franklinton Branch Library. The Pro Bono Project is a civil legal aid organization that provides free legal services to low-income residents of St. Tammany and Washington Parish. They assist clients with preparing wills and powers of attorney, filing for divorce, opening succession, filing for bankruptcy, and more. The group will be hosting a will and estate planning information session and Q&A with a The Pro Bono Project attorney on Tuesday June 3rd at the Franklinton branch of the Washington Parish Library. All are welcome to attend, and we will also be providing applications for free representation to qualifying applicants. YMCA Announces Summer Camp Themes and Deadlines
Registrations have started for the YMCA’s Summer Camps. Each camp fee is $120 with a minimum of 50.00 dep due at registrations with final payment due by May 30th. Camps will be held at the Bogalusa YMCA at 411 Avenue B.
Princess camp for ages 6 to 9, will be held June 9-12 from 10 am – 4 pm. Campers will step into a world of royal fun, imagination and unforgettable memories.
Fashion camp for ages 9 to 12 is scheduled for June 16-19 from 10 am – 4 pm each day. Campers should get ready for the ultimate style experience. Find your inner designer, create bold looks and strut your stuff in a one-of-a-kind fashion adventure!

St. Paul AME to host 3 day
celebration starting June 8th
The St. Paul A.M.E. Church will be celebrating Pentecostal Day with a 3 Day Pentecostal Weekend June 6th – 8th at the church located at 420 Church Street in Bogalusa. The theme will be entitled, “The Church will Never Die.” Scripture Matthew 16:18. Everyone is invited to join them as they celebrate the “Birthing of the Church.”
The celebration will begin with a spiritual Revival on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with speaker Rev. Douglas Hart, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Saturday morning workshops will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a comedy hour with the one and only comedian, Deno Posey. Lunch will be provided. A musical performance will be Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. The church’s own Bishop Erika Crawford will close out on Sunday, at 2:00 p.m.
The church is anticipating an exuberant, exciting three day spiritual explosion and invite everyone to join them. Registration will be $50 for Saturday activities and lunch.

VBS to begin June 8th
Lee’s Creek Baptist Church, located at 1803 Lee’s Creek Church Road in Bogalusa, will host their annual Vacation Bible School June 8 -12 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm nightly. The theme for this year is Magnified! Discovering the Bigness of God in the Smallest of Things.
Free Christian Movies every weekend in Bogalusa and Poplarville
Pastor Victor Robinson, Sr and the Glorious Church family invite everyone to join them every weekend in April for weekly christian movie showings.
Christian movies will be played weekly on an alternating schedule. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone is welcome to come help promote Jesus for our city, town and nation.
Movie schedule for The Glorious Church in Poplarville, MS is as follows: 47 Days with Jesus, Saturday, May 3rd 3:00 p.m. and Passion of Christ, on Saturday, May 17th.
Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 1112 Ann St., Bogalusa, LA., will host the Bogalusa movie showings on May 10th and 24th beginning at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Stanley Nathaniel invites everyone to attend. The movie schedule for Bogalusa is May 10th, Too Busy Not to Pray will be playing and May 24th, Heaven’s Gate and Hell’s Flames will air.

ADAPT’s 4th Annual Community Unity Day to be held June 14th
The 4th Annual Community Unity Day, organized by ADAPT, will be on Saturday, June 14th, from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds in Franklinton.
This event aims to foster unity, provide resources, and offer a day of enjoyment for families and friends. With an extensive range of booths, the event promises a diverse experience with offerings in prevention, human resource services, arts and crafts, enticing food vendors, a car show and live stage entertainment. Attendees will be able to discover the various resources available within the parish. Educating citizens on crucial life topics is a key objective of Community Unity Day. Vendors specializing in substance use education, sexual assault precautions, domestic violence awareness, and other pertinent subjects will be on hand to provide insights and information. Both youth and adults can engage in the various activities that cater to their interests.
Local businesses will attend the event, with vendors offering their arts and crafts and food products. Those interested in participating as vendors are encouraged to contact Cheryl Bruton at 985-735-0160. Vendor spaces will be assigned as 10’x10’ booths with no charge for those promoting prevention, education, or services. Artisans, food vendors and others selling items for profit must pay $25. Free Hunter Ed Course to be held June 20-21 in Franklinton
The Washington Parish Fire District #3 Station will host a free Hunter Education course given by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries June 20th and 21st.
Participants must be 10 years old by June 19th and must attend both days to receive Hunter Education Certificate. Classes will be held from 6-9pm on June 20th and 8am-3pm on June 21st. The district #3 station is located at 29468 Highway 430, Franklinton, LA 70438.

Center to host Youth Auto Skills & Safety Workshop June 28th
The Washington Parish STEM and Innovative Learning Center will host a Youth Auto Skills and Safety Workshop Saturday, June 28th from 9am – 1pm.
This workshop will be for youth ages 13 to 18 years old. Attendees will learn how to change a flat tire, basic vehicle maintenance checks, vehicle warning signs, roadside safety, how to change oil and filters and more. The course fee is $35 with a $10 deposit required. Only 20 slots are available for this date. There will be a waitlist for other workshop dates so register today!

Bogalusa YMCA to host weekly
Bible Study
The Bogalusa YMCA will host a continuing weekly Bible study from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. each Thursday evening as we study the Mysteries of the Book of
Revelation. The class will be led by Don Myers who is a former Assistant Professor of Bible at Faulkner Christian University.
All will be welcomed with a warm Christian greetings, Hot Coffee, and Cookies.

New Life Ministries offering Pickleball in Amite
You may already be aware that Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America today.
New Life Ministries is offering Pickleball at 21526 LA-16, Amite, La. on Wednesdays 5-7 pm for Beginner’s; Thursday 5-8:30 pm and Saturday 9 am – 1 pm.
The group now have a Pickleball pro, Thomas Hockert, and he is giving lessons, providing all equipment and teaching as well as open play. There is a $3.00 fee for all the time you are there, all day if you want and all equipment is provided.

Dementia/Alzheimer Caregiver Support Group meeting
Support offered to those greiving caregiver/caretakers of family members experiencing Dementia and Alzheimer’s. This group meeting is open to the public in the Washington Parish communities and surrounding areas.
Meetings give the opportunity for family members and caregivers to engage and support one another on the journey.
