Motorcycle Crash Investigation Leads to Arrest in Fatal Bogalusa Accident

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025 Bogalusa police officers responded to an accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Sullivan Dr and East 2nd St in Bogalusa. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive subject in the roadway. EMS responded to the scene, transporting 27-year-old Christopher Matthews Jr to Our lady of Angels Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The initial information on the scene indicated that this was a single vehicle accident. However, further investigation and analysis of video footage collected from near the scene revealed that another vehicle was involved.
Through investigative means officers were able to identify the unknown vehicle as well as the driver involved which resulted in the arrest of 74-year-old Howard Stringer of Columbia, MS.
Stringer was charges with numerous violations including: LRS 14: 32-Negligent Homicide, LRS 14:100-Hit and Run, LRS 14:130.1-Obstruction of Justice. LRS 32:121-Failure to yield.
