SPECIAL TO THE DAILY NEWS

Bowling Green School is proud to welcome home one of its own. Matt Magee has been named the Varsity Offensive Coordinator, Head JV Football Coach, and Director of Facilities. A Buccaneer through and through, Coach Matt’s connection to Bowling Green runs deep. It all began in kindergarten when he first served as a waterboy for the baseball, basketball, and football teams. For more than 30 years, Bowling Green has been his second home, and now he returns in a leadership role that brings his journey full circle.

A standout athlete during his years at BGS, Magee’s impact on the field was undeniable. He earned 1st Team All-District honors in football from 1996 to 1998, was named District MVP and MPSA All-Star in 1998, and helped lead the Bucs to a State Championship in 1997. On the basketball court, he was a 1st Team All-District player and contributed to back-to-back State Championships in 1997 and 1998. His baseball accolades are equally impressive, including 1st Team All-District selections from 1996 to 1999, District MVP honors in both 1998 and 1999, and being named both an MPSA All-Star and MPSA MVP in 1999.

Coach Matt has generously volunteered his time the last 10+ years to coach athletes across all levels at Bowling Green, from Peanut Bucs to Varsity, creating a lasting impact through his mentorship and dedication to our athletes. Over the last two seasons, he assisted the Varsity Buccaneers as they made back-to-back appearances in the State Championship games, contributing his knowledge and experience to help guide the team’s success throughout the season.

School spokesperson said, “We are thrilled to have Coach Matt back on the sidelines and behind the scenes as he helps lead our programs and facilities into the future. Welcome home, Coach Matt. Once a Buc, always a Buc.”
