Free Christian Movies every weekend in Bogalusa and   Poplarville

Pastor Victor Robinson, Sr and the Glorious Church family invite everyone to join them every weekend in April for weekly christian movie showings.

Christian movies will be played weekly on an alternating schedule. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone is welcome to come help promote Jesus for our city, town and nation.

Movie schedule for The Glorious Church in Poplarville, MS is as follows: Godliness, Saturday, July 5th 3:00 p.m. and Overcomer will be shown on Saturday, July 12th.

The movie schedule for Bogalusa is July 19th, Left Behind Part 2 will be playing and July 26th, Left Behind Part 3 will air.

Parish Pulse Meeting set for July 11th, Sen. Mizell Guest Speaker

The second meeting of the Parish Pulse has been set for Friday, July 11th from 8 – 9 am at the Washington Parish Economic Development, 526 Georgia Avenue, Bogalusa.

Sponsor and guest speaker, Senator Beth Mizell invites you to join for a focused discussion on the future of Washington Parish with community leaders, business owners and residents. Donuts and coffee will be served.

Watermelon Festival Ranch      Rodeo scheduled for July 11th 

The Washington Parish Watermelon Festival  Ranch Rodeo will be held on Friday, July 11th in the Franklinton Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena starting at 7 p.m. Children 4 years and younger are free  and a calf scramble is on schedule for ages 7 and under and ages 8-12.

4-man teams ($100 each man) featuring trailer loading, branding and mugging. $1,000 added. Only taking 10 teams.

BPD to host Back to School Bash July 26th in Cassidy Park

The Bogalusa Police Department will host a Back to School Bash in Cassidy Park on July 26th from 11 am – 4 pm. Participants can expect a school supply giveaway, food vendors, music, waterslides and Police and Pals.

Nonprofits, educational institutions, organizations, and businesses are invited to participate by setting up tables to distribute school supplies to children within our parish. The transition back to school can impose a considerable financial strain on families. The BPD is dedicated to alleviating this burden  with your assistance.

If you would like to participate but are unable to provide supplies, you are still welcome to attend, set up a table, and share educational materials with families. Games and activities are also encouraged. Contact Samantha at 985-922-3739 to participate.

Watermelon Festival activities for July 11th-13th event 

The Washington Parish Watermelon Festival  is looking for craft and food vendors for the 2025 Washington Parish Watermelon Festival to be held July 11th-13th.

Washington Parish Watermelon Festival Car Show will be held on  Saturday, July 12th from  9 AM – 2 PM at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds (Between Old McDonald’s Farm and the Playground). There is a $25 Vehicle Registration Fee and awards will be given at 2 P. M.

Third Annual Free Big Back to School Bash set for Aug. 2nd   

The Mayor’s Office is partnering with Christy Burris for the Third Annual Big Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 2nd in Cassidy Park from 5-8 pm.

This event is free to all Washington Parish students and will feature free school supplies, uniforms, chromebooks and haircuts!

You don’t want to miss this! If you don’t have school-aged children, still bring a lawn chair and enjoy the live entertainment!

Last year the bash had over 75 vendors and this year is shaping up to be even bigger. Huge thanks to AT&T, Capitol Bridge Health Services, and Washington Parish Stem Center for being Platinum Sponsors this year!

Washington Parish Fair Poster Contest Rules Announced 

The Washington Parish Free Fair is inviting local artists to showcase their creativity in the 2025 Washington Parish Fair Poster Contest. Entries are now being accepted through Friday, August 29, 2025, and the competition is open to all Washington Parish residents and native college students who are at least 18 years old.

Poster Guidelines:

• Posters must measure 16 by 20 inches, not exceeding 18 by 24 inches, and be in portrait (vertical) orientation.

• Acceptable materials include mat board, illustration board, canvas, or heavy paper. The artistic format is open to the creator’s preference.

• The design may include the text “Washington Parish Fair 2025,” or leave space for it to be added digitally. A small sketch should indicate lettering placement if not included in the main design.

• Designs can reflect the Fair in general or highlight a specific element, but must be non-commercial—not used for T-shirts, mugs, or other merchandise.

• If any recognizable person is featured in the artwork, a signed release form granting full publication rights must be included.

• While this year’s theme is “Ridin, Ropin, & Rockin N Rollin at the Washington Parish Free Fair,” incorporating it is optional.

• Artists may submit multiple entries, and previous designs will be accepted for consideration.

• All participants must sign a release of rights and royalties. Artwork will be returned after the 2025 Fair.Entries must be dropped off by the deadline at Hancock Whitney in Franklinton during regular business hours.

Bogalusa YMCA to host weekly

Bible Study

The Bogalusa YMCA will host a continuing weekly Bible study from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. each Thursday evening as we study the Mysteries of the Book of Revelation. The class will be led by Don Myers who is a former Assistant Professor of Bible at Faulkner Christian University.

All will be welcomed with a warm Christian greetings, Hot Coffee, and Cookies.

Mill Town Cruise Nights every second Thursday of the month

Mill Town Cruise Nights have resumed. The event is held on the second Thursday of the month at Zestos located at 100 Richmond Street Bogalusa, La. Starting this March-August with the $1,000 DOLLAR GIVEAWAY. Mark your calendars for this monthly event, 5:30-8:00 pm. See y’all there!

Play Bingo held weekly at the American Legion Hall

The American Legion invites everyone to come out every Thursday for Bingo. Jackpot is $1,000! Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and first number is drawn at 7:00 p.m. Food is also available.

New Life Ministries offering Pickleball in Amite 

You may already be aware that Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America today.

New Life Ministries is offering Pickleball at 21526 LA-16, Amite, La. on Wednesdays  5-7 pm for Beginner’s; Thursday 5-8:30 pm and Saturday 9 am – 1 pm.

The group now have a Pickleball pro, Thomas Hockert, and he is giving lessons, providing all equipment and teaching as well as open play.  There is a $3.00 fee for all the time you are there, all day if you want and all equipment is provided.

Dementia/Alzheimer Caregiver Support Group meeting

Support offered to those greiving caregiver/caretakers of family members experiencing Dementia and Alzheimer’s. This group meeting is open to the public in the Washington Parish communities and surrounding areas.

Meetings give the opportunity for family members and caregivers to engage and support one another on the journey. The gathering will take place the second Thursday of each month at the Washington Parish Council on Aging Bogalusa Senior Center, 603 Willis Avenue, Bogalusa beginning at 12:00 p.m. For more information contact Miss E at 985-732-6869 or 985-732-6868.
