SPECIAL TO THE DAILY NEWS

Franklinton Branch Library’s Summer Reading Program week two was full of twists and turns! Liz Bragdon came and performed Tales with a Twist: Stores That Move! She has everyone in the library learning to move according to their ability. She had children and adults acting out stories of the swamp and practicing relaxation. The program wrapped up with pictures, making yoga poses on the sidewalk, and popsicles. The library would like to thank the Washington Parish Friends of the Library and the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Greater Baton Rouge Arts Council for making programs like this available. They would also like to give a special thank you to Jack Brown’s for providing popsicles. This week the library will be hosting Karen Walsteen with The Adventures of Shiko & Walter

She will be at the Franklinton Branch at 10:00 on Friday, June 20, with a follow up performance at 2:00 in Thomas.

Week one of the summer reading program started with a bang! Ranger Martin, with the Dinosaur Experience, came to teach all in attendance about dinosaurs and what it was like when they roamed the earth. His prehistoric facts were laced with humor as he chatted with his dino friend, Rexy. Near the end of the program he brought out Fluffy, a life size Velociraptor. The program wrapped up with pictures, crafts, popsicles, and an ice excavation activity.
