Ben’s Ford Christian School competes in scrimmage against Copiah

Ben’s Ford traveled to Copiah, a triple-A team, Friday to battle in a scrimmage.
The teams ran four sets of 12 play series each on offense and defense. After that, the clubs went into goal line sets. They ran five plays on a goal line series, starting at the 5-yard line. Overall, offensively, the Eagles had three scores. The passing TD came from the Pittman brothers. Destin Pittman caught a six-yard throw from his brother Daniel Pittman. The rushing TDs were from five-yards. Corey Caldwell and Garrett Pounds had one each.Defensively, first-year coach Cole Holden said the unit did OK, but said his club gave up two big plays in the secondary. Holden said that linebacker Jordan Thomas, defensive end Robert Gaitan and cornerback Garrett pounds played well for his club on the defensive side of the ball. Holden said that he was pleased with the way things went overall.
“We went in there and the kids played physical and we got after it,” Holden said. “Offensively, we got after it. Defensively, we struggled, but the kids are learning a new defense, but we after it overall.”
Ben’s Ford Christian School hosts a 7-team jamboree Friday. The Eagles play a 12-minute quarter against Salem and Silliman at 7:30 and 8 p.m.
