Franklinton’s late goal pushes Lady Demons past Pine

Franklinton Brianna Meredith-Augustine scored the winning goal with 2 seconds left after accepting a pass from Alexa Barber, sending the Lady Demons to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Pine on the road Thursday.
After a scoreless first half, Jordan Ignacek gave FHS a 1-0 lead. Pine’s Fallon Turner recorded the equalizer off of Grace Fornea’s assist, but Meredith-Augustine’s late goal proved the be the difference in FHS’ win.
Lady Demons coach Drew Brooks said goalkeeper Haley Sanford stopped several game-saving shots.
Pine’s Cathy Tall named Sierra Rowe her top defender.
