Hope Thibodaux, who was indicted by a grand jury in November for obstruction of justice after the 2010 alleged aggravated rape of her 22-month-old child, will have to wait a few months for her pretrial hearing.
Thibodaux was due to go to court Monday, but the case was continued. She is now scheduled for a pretrial appearance on June 26 and for a jury trial on July 8.
Thibodaux was indicted after Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain of Investigations Tommie Sorrell, who was new on the job, reopened the cold case at the request of the child’s grandmother.
Thibodaux allegedly denied seeing the trauma on the child’s body that others reported seeing clearly, gave a false name when asked who had been watching him at the time and prevented the grandparents from taking the child to the doctor for two days after the incident.
