Bogalusa got back to the 0.500 mark and captured its third consecutive win with a 46-24 victory over Albany in District 7-3A competition.
The first half and the opening 95 seconds of the second half were a scoring fest.
Albany won the toss and elected to receive. The Hornets then drove 62 yards in eight plays while converting a pair of third downs along the way.
The drive ended when Skylier Lehmann found Kamryn Mayers for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Devin Wells ran in the two-point conversion and the Hornets led, 8-0, with 8:08 to go in the first half. Mayers finished with 61 yards rushing and Wells posted 66 on the ground.
Lehmann threw for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
Bogalusa then scored 24 unanswered points.
The Lumberjacks scored in four plays on their first possession when Kenyatta Scott ran 18 yards to pay dirt. Tym Toussaint, who had five two-point conversion runs, rushed one in to tie the game at 8-8.
Toussaint ran for 126 yards and threw for 63.
Albany then went 11 plays, but faced fourth-and-8 from the Bogalusa 37. The Hornets lined up to punt, but O’Trevious Gatlin broke through and blocked the punt. Diante Lenoir scooped up the loose ball and returned it about 49 yards for the touchdown.

Toussaint ran in for two and the Lumberjacks had their first lead, 16-8.
The score stayed that way until the second quarter, when the Lumberjacks went 52 yards in 12 plays. The drive ended with Sean Forbes — who ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns — scoring on a run from the 6. Toussaint was good once again for 2 and the Lumberjacks led 24-8, with 5:17 left on the clock.
Albany responded on the following drive that took the game toward the end of the opening half.
The Hornets put another solid drive together — this one was 13 plays, 70 yards — and scored when Lehmann found Cheyenne Labruzza for the 8-yard touchdown throw. Lehmann then completed a pass to Connor Turner for two points.
Labruzza finished with 120 yards rushing and a pair of scores.
Bogalusa was up, 24-16, at halftime.
The second half’s scoring came quickly, as the teams combined for three touchdowns and a trio of two-point conversions over the first 95 seconds of the third quarter. It all began on the second-half kickoff.
Forbes began his return from his 17, got into the open field and completed an 83-yard return for the touchdown. Toussaint’s two-point run had Bogalusa doubling up Albany, 32-16, with 11:48 left.
Just 30 seconds later, the Hornets cut the lead in half. Albany had second-and-10 from their own 36. Labruzza got the call, spun off a would-be tackler and raced up the right sideline. He went 64 yards for the touchdown. Wells then rushed in the two-point conversion and it was 32-24 with 11:18 left.
Bogalusa coach David Roberts said the defense made some mistakes, but added that Albany is big and physical and that the Hornets did a good job of running the ball on his team.
“Our offense did what they were supposed to do and our defense tightened up in the second half and eventually, we went ahead and took over,” Roberts said.
Three plays into the next drive, Bogalusa was back on the board when Toussaint fakes the option pitch and kept before scoring from the 9. His two-point conversion made it 40-24. The key play was right before that when he pitched to Forbes for a 51-yard play.
Bogalusa’s defense forced a turnover on downs at the Lumberjacks’ 23. Bogalusa then went 77 yards in eight plays. On fourth-and-6 from the 15, Forbes got the option pitch, got hit, stayed on his feet, regained his balance and then went in for the score. The Lumberjacks tried a jump pass that fell incomplete on the two-pointer, finalizing the scoring at 46-24.
The win pulled the Lumberjacks back to 4-4 overall and they are 3-0 in district play.
Bogalusa travels to Jewel Sumner Friday.
Albany is now 5-3 overall and 0-2 in district.
