Eddie McBeth, 60, a resident of Highway 62 in the Pine area, was arrested by Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives Wednesday. McBeth is charged with aggravated rape and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Washington Parish Chief Deputy Mike Haley said that the WPSO received a report of the sexual assault on a developmentally disabled person and conducted an investigation into the allegations. The investigation revealed that the assault did occur, and a warrant was obtained for McBeth’s arrest.
Due to the sensitive nature of the crime, Haley said that additional details would not be released.
McBeth was arrested and transported to the Washington Parish Jail, where he is being held with his bond set at $350,000.
“All crimes are bad, but this type crime is particularly despicable,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Persons who prey on anyone, especially those with special needs, deserve only one outcome, and that is jail. I congratulate our detectives for making this arrest.”
