Raiders top Albany on walk-off fielder’s choice, Pine defeats Fisher

Pine captured a 5-4 victory in eight innings over Albany on a walkoff fielder’s choice by Harrison Jones that plated Ethan Knight at home Wednesday.
Jones came up to the plate in a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the eighth inning and the game tied 4-4. Jones hit a groundball to third. The fielder bobbled it and tried to turn a double play by stepping on third and throwing to first. He recorded the force out at third, but Jones beat the throw to first and Knight scored the winning run on the play.
Knight had a solid game, going 2-for-4, including a triple, four RBIs and a run.
Dillon Morris, Trey Cooper, Connor Holmes and Tate Roach recorded one hit apiece for Pine.
Dakota Cobb scored two runs while Kendall Sheridan and Jamie Adcox tallied one.
Morris had a strong performance on the mound. He pitched a complete game, allowing six hits with nine strikeouts and three walks. Morris recorded 17 outs in three pitches or fewer.
On Thursday, Pine began play in the L.W. Higgins Tournament and won its fifth straight game to begin the season with a 4-1 victory over Fisher.
Adcox had a solid day at the plate and Rion Terrell was strong on the mound.
Adcox went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Terrell threw a complete game four-hitter, with six strikeouts and two walks.
Also offensively for the Raiders, Morris, Cooper and Roach each recorded a hit. Morris scored a run while Cooper and Roach drove in one run each and Knight scored a run for Pine in the win.
