An Angie man who allegedly tried to kill his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in March was arrested Monday and charged with two more attempted killings.

According to acting police chief Gene Crosby, Kelzon Clark, 23, of Angie, was wanted for an Oct. 31 drive-by shooting that left two victims wounded.

“We got the call at 10:30 p.m. Two victims had gunshot wounds and they were brought to the hospital,” Crosby said.

Crosby said the shooting happened around Davis Street, and the incident report didn’t say what might have motivated the shooting. Crosby also said he didn’t know whether the victims knew Clark. Crosby also did not explain why police believe Clark was involved in those shootings.

“I’d rather just say that during the investigation we determined it was Kelzon who was the shooter,” he said. “Reports were done and it was forwarded to a judge and a judge issued a warrant.”

On Monday, Clark was arrested by Washington Parish sheriff’s deputies. According to a press release from the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Houston Street home in Angie. WPSO officials alleged that Clark gave a false name at first, but after deputies discovered his true identity, he fled the home and ran into the woods.

The sheriff’s deputies called in a K-9 unit from the Rayburn Correctional Center and arrested Clark later without incident.

WPSO officials also reported that Clark had been arrested on Sept. 8, 2015, for parole violation. He was released on order of the court, but then arrested again May 28 this year when he was charged with second-degree attempted murder in connection with the March incident. He was released July 2 after posting a $75,000 bond.

In addition to two counts of attempted first-degree murder in relation to the October shooting, Clark is also charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, illegal use of weapons and resisting an officer (flight on foot). No bond has been set for these recent charges.

Sheriff Randy Seal said he expects Clark will remain in the parish jail for some time.

“Based on the evidence of all the charges against him, I think Mr. Clark has found a new home inside the Washington Parish Jail,” Seal said. “Our officers and officers from Rayburn Correctional Center did an excellent job identifying Clark, locating him in the woods and placing him in jail. I am so grateful for the outstanding working relationship we have with Warden Tanner and the staff at RCC. They are always ready to assist, day and night, regardless of the hour.”
