Several Lady Jacks headed to regionals

Bogalusa’s Jameka Lucas and O’Layzah Morris captured an event each, as did a Bogalusa relay team, and several Lady Jacks are headed to regionals after their solid performances in the District 7-3A Meet that took place last Wednesday at Jewel Sumner.
Lucas was victorious in the 300-meter hurdles after running the event in 58.11 seconds. Loranger’s Kayla Austin was second with a time of 1 minute.
Morris captured in the high jump after clearing the bar at 4 feet, 8 inches.
Bogalusa’s 4×100 team was victorious with a time of 53.20. The team featured Lucas, Prayja Bickham, Keyanna Haynes and Mary Ladner. Archbishop Hannan was second in 55.37.
Wednesday’s meet was a qualifier for regionals. The top four finishers from each event qualified for regionals, which will take place Wednesday at West Feliciana.
Lucas also qualified in the 100 with a time of 13.95 seconds. Loranger’s Kiana Foster won in 12.54.
Morris also advanced in the 200 with a time of 28.40 for fourth. Foster ran a 26.10 to win.
Bickham is going to regionals in a pair of events after finishing third for both the javelin and the 200. Bickham threw the javelin 79-3 and ran the 200 in 28.92. Archbishop Hannan’s Caroline Standley was the winner in 125-9.
Bogalusa’s 4×200 relay team qualified with a second-place finish with a time of 1:52.69. The group included Ladner, Bickham, Morris and Lucas. Archbishop Hannan won the close race in 1:52.40.
Jewel Sumner won the team competition with 90 points, as five teams tallied points.
Archbishop Hannan was second with 80, followed by Loranger’s 59, Albany’s 58 and Bogalusa’s 45.
Several other Lady Jacks also competed.
Cullene Cotton was fifth and sixth in the shot put and discus respectively with distances of 21-4.75 and 42-8. Albany’s Abby Howell won the shot put at 26-4.5 and Jewel Sumner’s Saylor Myles was the discus winner with a throw of 69-6.
Ladner was seventh in the javelin and 100 at 55-7 and 14.10.
