Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy Tyler Lindsey arrested a Sandy Hook man on May 25 for speeding, possession of drugs and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with a weapon present, according to WPSO Chief Deputy Mike Haley.

Haley said that while patrolling on Spring Valley Road south of Bogalusa, Lindsey used radar to clock a speeding vehicle. He pursued the vehicle, which entered the parking lot of an apartment complex, Haley said. While the driver was producing his driver’s license and other documentation, he was asked if any weapons were in the vehicle. Haley said that the driver appeared to be very nervous and admitted a rifle was in the trunk.

A Stag Arms semi-automatic weapon was retrieved from the trunk of the vehicle, along with two magazines that were inside the vehicle, Haley said. In addition, illegal pills were seized from the glove compartment.

Marcus Anton Mark, 23, a resident of Highway 48 in Sandy Hook, Miss., was arrested and booked into the Washington Parish Jail and charged with speeding, possession of Schedule IV drugs, and possession of controlled dangerous substances with a weapon present. He spent three days in jail before being released on a $5,000 bond.

“Another weapon and more illegal drugs removed from our parish,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “It is always gratifying for this sheriff when that happens. Thank you, Deputy Lindsey, for your good work.”
