Friday night is a big day for football teams in Washington Parish, as every team is in action.
This week’s schedule features four home games and a team going for a district title.
Ben’s Ford Christian School, Bogalusa, Bowling Green School and Varnado are all at home on Friday. All of the contests kick off at 7 p.m.

Wayne Academy at Bowling Green School
Bowling Green School will put its undefeated record on the line this week as the Buccaneers go for the win in a key District 4A3 game.
“This is a big game,” Bowling Green coach Riley Boudreaux said. “We win district if we win this one, so we’ve gotta make sure we have a good week of practice, keep our routine going and stay level-headed.”
Bowling Green enters this week with a 5-0 overall record and a 1-0 mark in league play. The Buccaneers were a 43-8 winner over Clinton Christian Academy on Friday.
Wayne Academy comes in at 2-2 overall and this is Wayne’s league opener. Wayne lost to Presbyterian Christian School last week 40-7 last week. Wayne’s last two games have been 40-7 finals. They defeated Newton County Academy, 40-7, the week before.
The teams have played in each of the last four years and have split those games. Bowling Green won last year’s contest, 19-0.
Last week, Rashaan Duke threw for 166 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also ran for 39 yards.
Wayne Ray led the rushing attack with 96 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns. Ray also had a reception for nine yards.
Cade Knight caught three passes for a team-leading 61 yards and he had a touchdown reception. Knight also had a tackle.
Jekorvian led the team in catches with four to go with 51 yards and a score.
Steven Cooper had two receptions for 34 yards and a score.
Defensively, Kengie Gordon led the team with 10.5 tackles and he forced a fumble.
Cameron Brock tallied eight stops and a sack.
Jace Schexnider posted 7.5 tackles and he broke up four passes.
Jackson Dobraska made 5.5 tackles.
Jacob Devall, Hunter Wilkinson and Matthews Downs all posted five stops. Devall made a sack and Downs broke up a pass.
Emmanuel Powell and Jacob Dobraska had four stops each. Powell forded three fumbles and recovered two. Dobraska recorded a sack.
Braxton Brock had three tackles.
Brayden Edwards, Denzel Evans and Jonathon Saverese had two tackles each. Edwards intercepted a pass while Evans recovered a fumble.

East Marion (Miss.) at Bogalusa
Bogalusa is back in action Friday, playing against East Marion (Miss.) at home.
The Lumberjacks enter this week with a 2-1 record.
Last week, Bogalusa snapped its 18-game losing streak to Franklinton with a 35-30 victory.
“It was a really big victory for our team and sometimes teams tend to have a letdown the next week after a really big win like that. I’m trying to get our kids focused for (this) week,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said. “We play a team from Mississippi that’s had some really good years over there and we’re trying to get healthy and continue to improve. We’re a little beat up now, but hopefully we can get some kids healed back to where they’re ready to go and keep playing well.”
Brumfield said his team needs to clean up their penalties.
“We had way too many penalties the other night (24) and a lot of times when you have as many penalties as that, it’s hard to win. But our kids fought extremely hard — some of them were playing hurt, but they had a real drive to win and I couldn’t be more happy for them, the school and the town,” Brumfield said.
One the stars last week for Bogalusa was quarterback Josh Taylor. He threw for 249 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also ran 24 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
“Josh played a great game, and when he plays within the system, we could beat anybody,” Brumfield said. “He has a really big heart on him. He’s a great competitor. His mental toughness has gotten better and as long as we can keep him focused and calm, he’s going to do some really good things here at Bogalusa High School.”
Tyrese Roussell led the receivers with four catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Tajdryn Forbes caught two passes for 68 yards.
Raheem Roberts made two receptions for 43 yards and a score.
Clyedterrious Thompson had a pair of catches for 21 yards. Defensively, Thompson had six solo tackles, an assist, a forced fumble and a pass defended.
Shadwick Gamble had a catch for 11 yards and LaDarious Spikes had a reception for 10 yards. Spikes also ran 11 times for 31 yards. Defensively, Spikes made six solo stops with an assist and a pass defensed. Gamble had five solo tackles with two assists, three sacks and a tackle for loss.
Darrius Mark had four solo tackles and two assists.
Jarvis Dawson made four solo tackles with an assist and he made an interception.
East Marion, out of Columbia, Miss., is 2-2 this season. East Marion last played two weeks ago and defeated Morton, 36-22.
These teams did not play last year.

Pine at St. Thomas Aquinas
Pine’s Raiders open District 9-2A play Friday with a road contest against St. Thomas Aquinas.
“St. Thomas has played a tough schedule,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said. “They’ve lost to some good teams and are probably better than what their record says.”
Pine begins this week with a 1-2 record after a 27-13 loss to Pearl River on Friday.
Seal talked about the key to the Raiders having success this week.
“(St. Thomas Aquinas has) a good defensive front, so I kind of feel like if we can get something going on the ground, control their front, that’s probably the key to game for me,” Seal said.
Last week, Adrianuen Johnson ran for 112 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown.
Jaheim Williams tallied a touchdown. Drake Westmoreland led the team with 10 tackles.
St. Thomas is 0-3 this year, with losses to Ascension Catholic, Episcopal and Loranger.
The teams have met in each of the last nine years. Pine is 2-7 in those games, but has won two of the last three, including a 32-28 victory last year.

Franklinton at Tylertown (Miss.)
Franklinton heads to Mississippi to play against Tylertown on Friday.
The Demons enter this week with a 1-2 record after being defeated by Bogalusa, 35-30.
Tylertown is 3-2 and is coming off a 30-9 loss to South Pike.
Franklinton and Tylertown have met in each of the last two seasons and have split those games. The Demons won last year’s contest, 21-14.
Franklinton quarterback Jasper LaSalle enters this week with 642 yards passing with four touchdowns and two interceptions. LaSalle also has 93 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Quaran Warren leads the Demons in rushing with 207 yards and he and Mike Martin are tied for the team lead in running scores with three each. Martin has 100 yards on 29 attempts. Warren also has nine catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Caleb Brown leads the receivers with 16 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns.
Kadarious Mark is next at 11 receptions for 196 yards.
Defensively last week, Avant Monnie returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown.

Slaughter Community Charter at Varnado
Varnado begins a two-game homestand on Friday with a contest against Slaughter Community Charter.
Varnado comes in after a 22-12 setback last week to East Iberville.
Slaughter Community Charter lost to Ascension Catholic, 42-8.
The teams did not play each other last year.
“Slaughter is a young program, well-coached and they show a lot of different looks,” Varnado coach Milton Green said. “Slaughter comes in 0-3 and we come in banged up. We were banged up last week. That’s why we had a lot of freshmen playing, but that’s no excuse. Besides that, this game should be an exciting game. We are calling on all of the fans and the community to come out. We are also recognizing the Wesley Ray Elementary School kids and the youth league football teams from the Angie and Varnado area.”
Last week, Christian Matthews had a team-leading 12 tackles along with three stops for a loss, one pass breakup and an interception.
Charlie Wash posted 10 tackles, including two for a loss, and had two passes defensed.
Trevin Haynes made eight stops and he tallied two catches for 65 yards.
Jaheim Hooks recorded six tackles, including three for a loss, along with 43 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Zamarion Washington scored a touchdown for the Wildcats.
Green said that linebacker/defensive end Matthews, linebacker Wash and defensive end/wide receiver Haynes put the team on their back and are good leaders.

Christian Collegiate Academy at Ben’s Ford Christian School
Two teams familiar with each other meet on Friday when Ben’s Ford Christian School hosts Christian Collegiate Academy.
The teams played each other just two weeks ago and Christian Collegiate Academy won the contest, 38-14.
Last week Ben’s Ford, which is 1-3, had a bye. CCA, which is 1-4, lost to Briarfield Academy, 52-0.
“I think it was a much-needed break for the older guys,” Ben’s Ford Christian School Tommy Pittman said. “We’ve just been trying to get ready. We definitely need to tackle better. That was one of the things that hurt us last time. We had some things that worked offensively against them last time. We’re focused on doing more of those things on offense. We’re looking forward to getting them again this Friday.”
Pittman said the coaches need their three seniors — Austin Stogner, Cameron Bullen and Payton Miler — to step up big.
In the game two weeks ago, Stonger topped Ben’s Ford in rushing with 60 yards and a touchdown on five carries. Stogner also made 3.5 tackles, a half a sack and a half a tackle for a loss.
Daniel Martin tallied 45 yards and a touchdown on 19 rushing attempts. Martin also led the team in tackles with 8.5.
Miller ran for 14 yards on three carries. Miller posted 6.5 tackles defensively.
Alex Stogner had five tackles to go with 0.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles for a loss.
Cameron Bullen and A.J. Exkano had three stops each. Exkano also had a tackle for a loss.
Trey Hartzog had two tackles. Joseph Williams and Gage Adams posted a tackle each. James Blackwell made 0.5 tackles for the Eagles.
