This week’s football schedule for teams in Washington Parish has games being played on Thursday and Friday.
The local LHSAA teams are playing on Thursday while the MAIS clubs are playing on Friday.
Bogalusa, Franklinton, Pine and Varnado are all playing at home on Thursday. Bogalusa, Franklinton and Pine are hosting games, while Varnado is on the road.
Bowling Green School and Ben’s Ford Christian School play their final regular season games with both at home on Friday.

Independence at Pine
Pine is at home on Thursday, looking to continue on its winning streak with a home game against Independence in a District 9-2A contest.
“We’ve gotta stay focused all week,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said on Monday. “We had a good practice today. We’ve got to execute our offense the way we have been and not give up the big play on defense.”
The Raiders enter after capturing their third-straight victory with a 27-19 win over St. Helena College and Career Academy.
Pine is 4-2 overall this year and 2-0 in league play.
The Raiders are ranked 13th in the Class 2A power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website.
These teams have met every year since 2015 and Pine is 3-2 in those contests. Last year, they played twice — once in the regular season and once in the playoffs. Both games were decided by four points. Pine won the regular season contest, 28-24, and Independence won the postseason game, 36-32.
Pine is just outside of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Poll, as they are the top team among the others receiving votes.
In last week’s game, Adrianuen Johnson rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts.
Jaheim Williams ran for 74 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown.
Logan Temples threw for 160 yards and he ran for two touchdowns.
Jordan Anderson caught three passes for 142 yards. Defensively, Anderson intercepted a pass.
Drake Westmoreland made nine tackles to lead the defense.
Tyrek Crosby recorded a sack.
Independence enters this week with a 1-4 overall record and 0-2 record in district.
The Tigers are ranked 45th power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website.

Archbishop Hannan at Bogalusa
Bogalusa is at home Thursday, as the Lumberjacks are hosting Archbishop Hannan in a District 8-3A contest.
“It’s always tough playing during fair week,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said. “There are distractions that come with the fair. We’ve just got to keep our guys focused for Thursday night.”
Bogalusa begins this week with a 3-3 overall record and an 0-1 district mark after a 36-14 loss to Albany last week.
Bogalusa has alternated wins and losses all year.
The Lumberjacks are No. 22 in the Class 3A power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website.
Hannan is 1-4 this season after a 21-0 loss to Lakeshore. Hannan is ninth in the Division II power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website.
“The last two years, the Hannan games have been within a touchdown and I’m sure it’ll be a close game this year,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said. “Hopefully, we can eliminate penalties and turnovers. We’ve battled injuries the last couple of weeks and hopefully we can get some key guys back this week.”
The teams have played each of the last two years, with Archbishop Hannan winning both. The two games have been decided by one possession. The contests were 30-27 in overtime two years ago and 28-20 last year.
Last week, Bogalusa’s Josh Taylor threw for 67 yards with two interceptions, and he ran for 63 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

St. Charles at Franklinton
Franklinton looks to record its fourth-straight victory this week, as the Demons host St. Charles Catholic in non-district action on Thursday.
“Big thing for us is to avoid distractions,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said. “Anytime you’re not in school, the kids get out of a routine, so we’ve tried to develop that routine by practicing early so they have to get up, be accountable and be where you have to be. The big thing this week is being accountable, avoiding distractions and being at our best on Thursday night to beat a really good football team.”
The Demons enter this week with a 4-2 record and are 16th in the Class 4A power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website.
Franklinton enters this week after a 23-17 victory over Belle Chasse.
St. Charles is 5-1 this season and is fourth in the Division III power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website.
St. Charles defeated Port Gibson High School of Mississippi, 28-0.
St. Charles is fifth in the Class 2A Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll.
This is the first meeting between the two teams since the 2002 Class 3A playoffs. Franklinton won that game, 6-0.
Mike Martin had a big game last week. He ran for 151 yards and three touchdowns to go with a pair of two-point conversions.
Jasper LaSalle hit the 1,000-passing yard plateau on Friday and now has 1,056 yards passing with seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has 154 rushing yards and a score.
Mike Martin enters the week with 538 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. He also has three receptions for 45 yards and a score.
Quaran Warren begins with 268 yards on the ground and three touchdowns along with nine catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Caleb Brown leads the receivers with 24 catches for 482 yards and three touchdowns.
Kadarious Mark starts the week with 18 catches for 329 yards.
Defensively, Noah Breland has 18 tackles to top the Demons.
Malachi Martin is at 15.
Deerail Kemp and Chase Sheridan both have 15.
Ben Bickham is the team’s sack leader with two.
Kemp, Sheridan, Malachi Martin, Breland and Jacob Turnage all have one.
Avant Monnie has intercepted two passes.
Malachi Martin and Corinthious Dickerson have one each.
Breland has recovered two fumbles.
Kemp, Sheridan, Dickerson, Jaylin Magee, Monnie and Trey’un Walker all have recovered one.
Most of the defensive stats are updated except for one game.
Barber praised Mike Martin and others on their play.
“(Mike Martin’s) a big part of what we’re able to do offensively, but also the clutch plays our quarterback (LaSalle), he’s made the last few weeks, especially on that drive that sealed the deal for us last week. Obviously up front, we’ve done a good job of opening up holes for our running game. (Fullback) Spencer Lambert has elevated his level of play. Defensively, our play in the box — our defensive line and linebackers have done a great job. (Outside linebackers) Chase Sheridan and Malachi Martin have been special. (Defensive end) Jacob Turnage has been great inside. (Inside linebacker) Deerail Kemp, who we inserted in the lineup, has made plays. But it’s like I told our kids, it’s not about where we are now. We had four wins last year and we have four wins now. Big thing is focusing on what we have in front of us and making sure we take the next step in reaching our goal.”

Kentwood at Varnado
Varnado is at home on Friday with a contest against Kentwood on Thursday.
The Wildcats begin this week with a 2-4 overall record and 0-1 record in district play. Varnado is No. 41 in the Class 2A power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website.
Varnado lost to defending Class 2A state champion Amite, 55-0, last week.
Kentwood, which won the Class 1A state title last year, is 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Kentwood is seventh in the Class 2A power point rankings on Louisiana Sportsline’s website and seventh in the Louisiana Sports Writers’ Association poll for Class 2A.
Kentwood is 3-3 overall and 1-0 in district play after a 35-14 win over Independence.
“We’re going against another state champion, but one thing we’ve done is we’ve seen the best,” Varnado coach Milton Green said. “Kentwood’s got some speed, but they aren’t as big and strong as Amite. Hopefully we can control the clock and get it to the fourth quarter.
“Kentwood is a good team. We want to duplicate their blueprint of being successful. I don’t think Varnado’s seen any teams like this (Amite and Kentwood) in a while.”
Korterrius Mingo ran for 90 yards last week.

Sylva Bay Academy at Bowling Green School
Bowling Green School plays its final regular season game on Friday with a home game against Sylva Bay Academy.
The Buccaneers are 0-7 after a 41-18 loss to Silliman Institute.
Sylva Bay Academy enters with a 3-5 record. Sylva Bay lost to Newton County Academy, 36-7, last week.
This is the first meeting between the two teams since at least 2004.

Kemper Academy at Ben’s Ford Christian School
Ben’s Ford Christian School plays in its regular season finale with a home game against Kemper Academy in a District 2A2 contest on Friday.
Ben’s Ford is 1-6 overall and 0-2 in district.
Last week, the Eagles lost to Columbus Christian Academy, 48-12.
Kemper is 3-5 overall and 1-1 in league play. Last week, Kemper defeated Christian Collegiate Academy, 66-34.
This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2008. Ben’s Ford won that game 20-12.
Last week, Daniel Martin threw for 61 yards and an interception for Ben’s Ford. Martin also made a tackle.
Austin Stogner rushed for 117 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns. He also made six stops and 0.5 tackles for a loss.
Gage Adams had 20 yards on one rush. He also caught two passes for 61 yards, and made three tackles.
Payton Miller led the team in tackles with 10.5, including 1.5 for a loss.
Cameron Bullen posted three tackles.
John Glover had three tackles, with 1.5 for a loss.
Alex Stogner recorded two tackles.
Trey Hartzog made one tackle and James Blackwell made half a tackle, which was for a loss.
