On Tuesday, just before 9 a.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 21 south of Louisiana Highway 1071 in Washington Parish. The crash claimed the life of Chad Hibley, 23, of Bogalusa.
Trooper Jeremy Price said that the initial investigation led troopers to determine that Hibley was southbound on Highway 21 in a 2013 Ford Explorer. For reasons still under investigation, he exited the roadway and impacted a culvert followed by a utility pole, Price said.
Hibley was unrestrained and died on the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor, Price said.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a blood sample was taken from Hibley for scientific analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
