Gov. John Bel Edwards announced the appointment of several individuals to various Louisiana boards and commissions, contributing their expertise to vital areas of governance and public welfare.
Task Force on Available and Affordable Commercial Motor Vehicle Insurance
The Task Force on Available and Affordable Commercial Motor Vehicle Insurance aims to address the challenges faced by businesses seeking affordable commercial motor vehicle insurance in Louisiana.
Mr. Frederick J. “Eric” Holl of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Task Force on Available and Affordable Commercial Motor Vehicle Insurance. Mr. Holl currently serves as the deputy chief of staff for communications and special projects in the Office of the Governor, representing the Governor as a designee.
Louisiana Children’s Trust Fund Board
The Louisiana Children’s Trust Fund Board allocates funds to non-profit and public agencies throughout the state to combat child abuse and neglect.
Pastor Mary W. Moss of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Louisiana Children’s Trust Fund Board. She serves as the Pastor at St. Alma Baptist Church in Lakeland and will represent the religious community on the board.
Governor’s Advisory Board of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
The Governor’s Advisory Board of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention plays a crucial role in improving Louisiana’s juvenile justice system by providing guidance to state and local governments, as well as private non-profit agencies.
Ms. Elaine M. Davis of Baker has been appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Board of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. She brings valuable experience as the former assistant state director for the Louisiana Department of Education’s Special School District 1, specializing in addressing school violence and vandalism issues, and offering alternatives to suspension and expulsion.
Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board
The Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board is responsible for regulating the licensure of professional engineers and land surveyors in the state to ensure public safety and welfare.
Mr. Gordon E. Nelson of Baton Rouge and Mr. John J. Plaisance II of Cut Off have been appointed to the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Mr. Nelson serves as a project manager for Volkert, Inc., representing licensed professional engineers employed in the field of construction. Meanwhile, Mr. Plaisance is the director of operations for GIS Engineering, LLC, bringing his expertise to represent the private practice of engineering.
Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges
The Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges is entrusted with the management of Louisiana’s public two-year institutions, aiming to enhance the quality of education programs provided by these colleges.
Tari T. Bradford of Shreveport has been reappointed to the Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges. Ms. Bradford, currently serving as the senior assistant to the mayor of Shreveport, will represent Congressional District 4.
Joseph G. Hollins of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges. Mr. Hollins is the executive director of the Louisiana Offshore Terminal Authority and will serve at-large.
Alterman L. Jackson of Lafayette has been reappointed to the Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges. Mr. Jackson, the retired university registrar for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, will represent Congressional District 3.
Michael J. Murphy of Bogalusa has been reappointed to the Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges. Mr. Murphy, the former dean of the Sullivan Campus of Louisiana Technical College, will represent Congressional District 5.
Matthew J. Wood of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges. Mr. Wood, the secretary/treasurer of the Louisiana AFL-CIO, will also serve at-large.
Red River Waterway Commission
The Red River Waterway Commission is tasked with the establishment, operation, and maintenance of the Red River Waterway system, ensuring navigable waterways and fostering regional growth.
Mr. Kenneth A. Richardson of Colfax has been appointed to the Red River Waterway Commission, representing Grant Parish. Mr. Richardson is a farmer and rancher from Colfax.
Mr. Michael B. Simpson of Coushatta has been reappointed to the Red River Waterway Commission, representing Red River Parish. Mr. Simpson is a farmer and rancher from Coushatta.
Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners
The Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners is dedicated to protecting the public by regulating the practice of social work in the state.
Ms. Candice C. Sorapuru Scales has been appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners. As the co-founder and director of clinical operations for Innovative Approaches Counseling Center, Ms. Sorapuru Scales will serve as a licensed clinical social worker providing direct services.
Louisiana Emergency Response Commission
The Louisiana Emergency Response Commission (LERC) coordinates the state’s planning and preparedness efforts for hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with Title III regulations.
Jerrie D. “Jerry” Lang of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Louisiana Emergency Response Commission. Mr. Lang, an administrator for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, will represent the Secretary for the Department of Environmental Quality as a designee.
