BOGALUSA, La. – Attention high school students in Washington Parish: A new FIRST Robotics Competition community team, Team “YMCABattleJacks” #9700, is poised to launch in the area. The team will be headquartered at the YMCA of Bogalusa and is scheduled to commence its build season on January 6. The team’s participation extends beyond local borders as it gears up to compete with teams from Louisiana and Mississippi.

The “YMCABattleJacks” team is open to any high school-aged student, regardless of their educational background. This includes those who are from public, private, or home schools. The team’s primary meeting location is at the Bogalusa YMCA on Avenue B. This inclusivity emphasizes the organizers’ commitment to equal opportunities for all young minds interested in robotics and engineering.

The team focuses on the mechanical and electrical design. No experience is required, and the team welcomes members interested in code/programming, graphic design, media, marketing, outreach, and project management.
